Shirley M. (Marshall) Gilmore, 78, of New Sewickley Township passed away Thursday while in the comfort of her home.

Born Oct. 27, 1934, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Yevick) Marshall.

She grew up in the North Side of Pittsburgh and attended the Belfield Trade School for girls in Oakland. She worked at Forbes Field baseball stadium for several years. At a very young age, Shirley’s father passed away and in an attempt to help her mother, she had to work to buy her own clothes.

Shirley worked for the David Weis Department Store and retired from Kmart in Cranberry Township after 19 years of dedicated service.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 33 years, Charles “Bus” Gilmore, who she married July 1, 1979; her six children, Robert W. Lape and his wife, Regina, of Cranberry Township, Larry R. Lape and his wife, Ellen, of Mars, Debra Lape of Middlesex Township, Terri L. Clark and her husband, Burt, of Alaska, Tammy Heim and her husband, Jay, of Alaska and Roberta Herold and her husband, Dan, of Alaska; her brother, Ray Marshall; her nine grandchildren, Angela Parent and her husband, Scott, of California, Rob Lape of Pittsburgh, Loren Greenwald and her husband, Kern, of Monroeville, Jay Michael and Charlie Heim, Nicole and Alexis Clark, and Amanda and Michael Herold; and her six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Lester B. Lape.

GILMORE — The family of Shirley M. (Marshall) Gilmore, who died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A blessing service will be celebrated at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev.
