Kenneth C. Beatty, 87, of Slippery Rock Township passed away at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Irwin Township, Venango County, on July 30, 1925, he was the son of Grover Cleveland Beatty and Margaret Riddle Beatty.

He married Jacque Grubbs on Sept. 17, 1983.

Beatty was employed at Cooper Bessemer, later called Cooper Energy, in Grove City. After that he worked with plumbing, heating and appliances for 28 years.

Kenneth and his wife, Jacque, owned and operated Tinker's Dam Florist in Slippery Rock since 1981. He greatly enjoyed the fellowship that resulted from delivering flowers to their many clients.

Kenneth graduated from Grove City High School in 1943. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II as an aviation radioman and received an Air Medal and two Gold Stars. He served on the aircraft carrier Belleau Wood as part of Task Force 58 off the shore of Japan.

Surviving are his wife, Jacque Beatty of Slippery Rock; one daughter, Melodie G. Esposito (Eddie) of Grove City; two sons, Russell K. Beatty (Mary) of Grove City and Robert K. Beatty (Beth) of Grove City; one brother, Grover Cleveland Beatty of Grove City; and one brother-in-law, Donald Jordan of Livermore Falls, Maine.

Also surviving are three stepchildren, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bonnie Jean Winder; two sisters, Maxine Beatty and Anna Jordan; and two brothers, Ralph and Keith.

BEATTY— Friends of Kenneth C. Beatty, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, will be received at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to the Slippery Rock Rescue Team, P.O.
