Donald W. 'Ducky' Cowen Jr.

Donald W. “Ducky” Cowen Jr., 59, of Slippery Rock Township passed away at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Don was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Donald W. Cowen Sr. and Mercedes Heinzl Cowen.

He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had been employed at Dynamic Color and Letter Press where he was an embosser.

In addition to his mother, Mercedes Cowen of West Sunbury, Don is survived by his companion, Kathy Hempfling of Slippery Rock; one daughter, Jennifer Lee Bilbay of North Carolina; and two grandsons, Austin Bilbay and Cody Bilbay, both of Williamsport. Two brothers, Ronald (Beverly) Cowen of Butler and Darin Cowen of Alexandria, Va., also survive.

In addition to his father, Don was preceded in death by one sister and one nephew.

COWEN — Friends of Donald W. “Ducky” Cowen Jr., who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. A blessing service will follow with Father James Bedillion of St. Alphonsus Parish officiating. The burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family.
