SRU's Daugherty snaps pole vault mark

Cameron Daugherty broke his own facility record and cleared the second-best height in the nation in the men’s pole vault to lead Slippery Rock University at the Youngstown State University Indoor Invite Friday.

Daugherty, the reigning outdoor national champion, cleared 5.10 meters, breaking his best of 4.90 from last season at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.

In all, 34 individual PSAC qualifying performances were met, including 11 top five finishes.

The only other SRU athlete to win an event was Seneca Valley graduate Hunter Williams in the 500-meter run, which is not a PSAC event. He won the event with a time of 1:06.40.

On the women’s side, The Rock had 21 PSAC individual qualifying performances with eight to-five finishes.

Kaitlyn Clark and Julia Cane led the way for SRU as both cleared 3.65 meters in the pole vault while Stephanie Case finished second in the mile with a time of 5:07.74.
