SLIPPERY ROCK — Former Slippery Rock University lacrosse standout Casey Quinn has been named assistant coach of the women’s team.

Quinn played her final season with SRU in 2012. She was the team’s MVP and tallied 150 goals and 30 assists during her collegiate career.

Quinn served as a volunteer assistant coach last semester. She graduated in December with a degree in physical education.

PGC website offers upgrade on birds HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Game Commission unveiled a redesigned and expanded birding and bird conservation section on its website.The section offers advice on where to see birds, the best times of the day to see birds, migratory behavior, what seeds to use in your feeder to attract the birds you want to see, how to make your yard more bird-friendly among other items.The access the site, visit www.pgc.state.pa.us, click Wildlife and select ‘Birding/Bird Conservation. The new section can be accessed from the Wildlife page.

Heisman winner gets speeding ticket LUBBOCK, Texas — Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel recently got a speeding ticket near Dallas and a local judge thought it newsworthy enough to post something on Facebook.Ennis City Manager Steve Howerton issued a news release saying Judge W. Lee Johnson's Facebook post was “insensitive and inappropriate.” He said Johnson could face disciplinary action.

49ers receiver involved in assault?SAN FRANCISCO — Police are investigating a sexual assault allegation involving 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.The alleged assault occurred in a San Francisco hotel room early Sunday, after the 49ers' playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers, police said in a written statement.
