Students can attend Reality Tour

JEFFERSON TWP — South Butler School District sixth-grade students may attend the anti-drug Reality Tour program as the result of an anonymous donor.

The donor, who lives in the district, gave $900 to Candle, Inc., the nonprofit organization that manages the Reality Tour. The money covers the program’s fee for 180 students and one of their parents.

“It was a surprise to me when I received the phone call to make the arrangements,” said Norma Norris, executive director of Candle, in a news release. “South Butler was the first school to recommend to parents that they take their child to Reality Tour back in 2004.”

The program is held the second Monday of each month beginning at 6 p.m. at the Butler YWCA. It includes scenes depicting the life and death of a teen on drugs, according to the release.
