Walter A. Fisher

Walter A. Fisher, 85, of West Sunbury passed away at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday at UPMC-Hamot Hospital in Erie.

He was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Butler County to the late Walter E. Fisher and Sylvia Clifford Fisher.

Mr. Fisher served as a machinist in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired in 1982 from the Atlantic Richfield Co. in Erie, where he was a driver and dispatcher. Mr. Fisher attended the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.

Mr. Fisher is survived by two sons, Melvin Fisher of Arcadia, Fla., and Walter Fisher of Erie; one granddaughter, Tracey Hunsaker and her husband, Bruce, of Arizona; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Joseph A. Youkers of Butler; one sister-in-law, Wanda McKinnis of Butler; two nieces; and four nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Fisher, who he married on Oct. 3, 1946, and who passed away on July 8, 2010.

FISHER — A memorial service for Walter A. Fisher, who died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
