Karolyn “Kay” R. Barr, 78, of Butler passed away Monday in Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Laura Christein Eliason. She was born July 6, 1934, in Bronx, N.Y., and later lived in Bethlehem, Pa. She has made her home in Butler for the past 48 years.

Kay was a veteran of the Korean War, where she served as a medic in the Women's Army Corp.

She had worked at Zayres for many years and at the Butler Days Inn.

She is survived by three children, Marcia (Michael) Kline of Prospect, Laura Barr of Butler and Robert Barr of Pittsburgh; two grandsons, Joshua (Erika) Kline of Butler and Jared Kline of Prospect; two great-granddaughters, Ariana and Cora Kline; three siblings, Judy Harka of Tobyhanna, Pa., Robert (Peggy) Eliason of Bethlehem, Pa., and James Eliason of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.
