BIG BEAVER, Beaver County — A woman is dead today and her live-in male companion was hurt after flames swept through their home.

Fire officials in Big Beaver in northern Beaver County, say the fire was reported about 2 a.m. today.

Crews say they found the woman dead in the home but say the man got out, though he was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital because of burns and smoke inhalation.

A state police fire marshal has been trying to determine the cause of the fire.
