Jeffrey W. 'Jeff' Steighner

Jeffrey W. “Jeff” Steighner, 57, of West Sunbury died Wednesday evening at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Feb. 16, 1955, in Butler, he was a son of the late Regis and Alverta (Shields) Steighner.

Jeff worked for Etzel’s Masonry in Butler for more than 30 years as part of the Local 9 Masonry Union in Butler.

He was a member of the East Butler Presbyterian Church, was an avid old bottle collector, was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, working on cars, auto racing and football. Jeff was known as a class comedian, loved his work, was always helping someone else and was the greatest grandpa.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne D. (Dillner) Steighner, who he married July 29, 1988; five children, Timothy Steighner and Ryan Kirkwood of Butler, Joseph (Tammy) Steighner of Parker, Michael (Nicole) Steighner of Russellton, Brad (Michele) Riemer of Butler and Dottie (Tom) Hageter of Butler; nine grandchildren, Amber, Alicia, Shania, Zarnia, Michael, Ashlyn, McKenzie, Christian and Cailyn; three great-grandchildren, Heaven, Billy and Johnny; two sisters, Sandra (Frank) Miller of Herman and Debra (Joseph) Barkley of Butler; one brother, Bruce (Mary) Steighner of Tennessee; and his father-in-law, Clarence Dillner of Gibsonia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Regis Steighner, and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Dillner.

STEIGHNER — Friends of Jeffrey W. “Jeff” Steighner, who died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the East Butler Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Mary Kitchen, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
