Melva R. Dreier Hood

Melva R. Dreier Hood, 98, of Gibsonia died Wednesday in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born March 23, 1914, in Pittsburgh, to the late Fred and Hazel Dawe Dreier.

She was a volunteer at St. John’s Specialty Care in Mars for more than 45 years.

She is survived by three sons, William C. (Sue) Hood of Richland Township, James F. Hood of Phoenix, Ariz., and Richard H. (Nicola) Hood of Richland Township; one daughter, Linda M. (Paul) Fowler of Mars; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond K. Hood, who passed away Aug. 4, 1977; her son, Raymond Hood Jr.; one sister, Lillian Peters; and two brothers, Howard C. Dreier and Fred Dreier.

HOOD — Visitation for Melva R. Dreier Hood, who died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Herbert R King, Jr. Funeral Home, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park.A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
