Lois M. McKnight

Lois M. McKnight, 82, of Butler died suddenly Tuesday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Lois was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Butler, and she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Paradis) Atkinson.

She was a graduate of the Linden One-Room Schoolhouse, Butler High School, and the Butler Business College.

She had worked as a secretary for the Sealtest Co.; and retired from Keystone Electric in Butler where she also worked as a secretary.

Lois was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora and the 60 Plus Club at the Tanglewood Senior Center. She was a past member of the Highfield Women's Auxiliary and held numerous officer positions. Lois was an avid 500 card player, Scat player and bingo player and enjoyed spending quality time with friends in these activities. Additionally, she enjoyed walking, watching movies and making sure everyone around her had a smile on their face.

Surviving are her two sons, Michael N. Dill of Bremerton, Wash., and Joseph C. Dill of Carlisle, Pa.; and three stepchildren, Joseph C. McKnight Jr. of New Castle; Dale L. McKnight of New Castle; and Kay L. Prentice of Edinburg, Pa. Rounding out the rest of Lois' family tree are four stepgrandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Additionally, living in Butler, Lois has one half-sister, Louise Covey and one half-brother, Henry Fowler.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, James Fowler; one half-sister, Rosemary Kuminkoski; and her first loving husband, Carl N. Dill, who died in 1963.

MCKNIGHT — Friends of Lois M. McKnight, who died, Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. George Palick will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Butler.The Bereavement Committee of the St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home for a parish prayer service.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
