Richard F. Gibson Sr., 80, of Natrona Heights passed away Tuesday in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

He was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Natrona, and was the son of the late Charles L. and Mary C. Horan Gibson.

Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War. He retired as a regional manager for the Uniroyal Tire Co. Richard was a member of the St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township. He enjoyed going to car shows and was a Steelers and Pitt fan.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard (Landi) Gibson Jr. of Duncansville, Dee Dee (Bill) Knox of West Deer Township, Sandy (Dale) Kitzky of Butler and Mary (David) Smider of Penn Hills; nine grandchildren, Ricky, Billy, Tammy, Leanne, Nick, Samantha, Shannon, Ryan and Ben; four great-grandchildren, Timmy, Tessa, Sienna and Aiden; his fiancée, Judith Gleinn of Natrona Heights; sister, Doris Seaton of Leesburg, Fla.; brother, Robert (Carol) Gibson of Tarentum; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Dopler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine E. Gibson on Nov. 7, 2002, and his sister, Monica Kratz.

GIBSON — Friends of Richard F. Gibson Sr., who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday.A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. James Mazurek as celebrant.Burial with full military honors, accorded by the Tarentum VFW, will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township.Contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Ave., New Kensington, PA 15068, or to the American Cancer Society P.O.
