Joanne E. Kennedy
Joanne E. Kennedy, 80, of Prospect, formerly of Richland Township, died Wednesday evening at Paramount Senior Living in Adams Township.
Born in Harmony on July 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James and Edith Thompson Wright.
Joanne grew up on a farm in Fombell, then raised her family with her husband, Bob, on the Kennedy Farm in Gibsonia. After retiring, they split their time between Prospect and Venice, Fla., where she was busy with crafts, bowling, playing cards and shuffle board.
A homemaker, Joanne was a longtime, active member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, where she had been a deacon, a member of the Material Girls and a past president of the Mars Women’s Club. She loved to cook and bake; there was always something sweet to eat at the Kennedy house. She also quilted, did ceramics, painted and loved gardening. She was always busy and always doing something for someone else. To put it simply, she was the best.
Surviving are her husband, J. Robert Kennedy, who she married on June 6, 1953; two daughters, Linda Moody and her husband, Edward “Chooch,” of Middlesex Township and Lisa Holland and her husband, Ken, of Prospect; and three sons, James Kennedy and his wife, Rhonda, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Dave Kennedy and his wife, Paula, of Prospect and Jeffrey Kennedy and his wife, Karen, of Prospect. She was the grandmother of Matthew Kennedy (Sarah), Andrew Kennedy, Samantha Baer (Rob), Emily Kennedy, Cody Moody, Mitchell Kennedy, Maggie Kennedy, Kenny Holland, Alex Kennedy, Caity Holland, Amanda Kennedy and Ashlie Jones. She was the great-grandmother of Katie, William David, Arianna and Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Whiteman, and three brothers, Warren, Grant and Scott Wright.
