Helen T. McElroy

McElroy

Helen T. McElroy, 82, of Chicora passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born on March 19, 1930, in East Brady, and was the daughter of Henry Brody and Mary (Rodgers) Brody.

Helen attended East Brady High School and graduated in 1948. On April 10, 1949, she married Clarence Lee McElroy. They spent 49 years together prior to Clarence Lee’s passing in December 1998. She was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church of Chicora.

Helen was, above all else, a woman who loved her family and devoted herself to raising her six children. As her focus was her children, she could often be found supporting their endeavors. Whether it was a sporting event or a spelling bee, she was there. Helen also enjoyed dining out and working outside with her flowers or in the garden, but her most precious moments were those spent with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Sharon McElravy and her husband, Joseph, Lee Ann Kusick and her husband, Thomas, David McElroy and his wife, Terri, and grandchildren, Ian and Ethan, all of Karns City, and Nancy Whited and her husband, Roger, and grandchildren, Adam and Brody, all of Bruin; grandchild, Kelly Downs and her husband, Robert, and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jordan and Taylor, all of Karns City, grandchild, Erin Miller and her husband, Jeff, and great-grandchildren, Owen and Cade, all of Prospect, grandchild, Mark McElravy and his wife, Sommer, and great-grandchild, Payton, all of Cranberry Township, grandchild, Robert Kusick and his wife, Andrea, of New York City and grandchild, James Kusick and his fiancée, Heather Berlin, both of Cranberry Township. Also surviving are her brother, Henry Brody and his wife, Patricia, of East Butler and Helen’s friend, Robert Sheakley of Karns City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Brody; her husband, Clarence Lee McElroy; her sons, Robert and Patrick McElroy; grandson, Seth Whited; and brother, Lou Brody.
