Patsy A. 'Pat' Santoro

Patsy A. “Pat” Santoro, 92, of Butler passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Monessen, Pa., to the late Carmine Santoro and Christina Fiocca Santoro.

Mr. Santoro was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Corps and was an aviation radioman, TBF Fighters and served in the South Pacific and West Pacific theatres. He worked at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen and retired from the U.S. Postal Service on Aug. 19, 1986, following 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Epiphany Church in Monessen. Mr. Santoro was a member of the Valley Cordsman Barber Shoppers in Charleroi, Pa., for 15 years. Most of his adult life, he enjoyed playing softball, duckpins and billiards.

Mr. Santoro is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Santoro, who he married Aug. 17, 1951; one daughter, Helene Christine Santoro of Butler; one son, Patrick Santoro and his wife, Robin, of Renfrew; three grandchildren, Stacy Reese and her husband, Tom, of Butler, Ryan Santoro and his wife, Sheena, and Rachel Santoro; two great-grandchildren, Tessa Jane Reese and Gianna Marie Santoro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Paul Santoro; five brothers, Carmine, Emil, Anthony, John and Frances Santoro; and two sisters, Mary Fellicca and Philomina Cole.

SANTORO — Friends of Patsy A. “Pat” Santoro, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. A memorial blessing service will be held immediately following at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Father Harry Bielewicz of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church officiating.A memorial service is being planned for Monessen, Pa., in the spring of 2013 and will be announced.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
