Late Saturday morning, Viola Rose Fiel Porter of Zelienople said to her Heavenly Father, “I'm ready. Let thy will be done.”

Rose was the last of the 12 children of Albert and Florence Waechter Fiel to pass. She celebrated her 85th birthday on May 12, 2012. Rose had been married to Joseph M. Porter Sr. for 54 years until he passed on Nov. 30, 2001.

Rose was a very talented seamstress. Many of her nieces, granddaughters and daughters' friends wore creations fashioned by her to their proms and weddings.

Golf was a great passion of hers. She was a former member of the Lake Arthur Women's Golf League.

Donating to the food banks and turkey drives was important to her, especially at this time of the year.

Rose was a charter member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Evans City until her move to Zelienople four years ago. She taught Sunday school there for many years and belonged to many of the ladies circles. Upon her relocation to Zelienople, she became a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Morning Circle.

Rose belonged to the past matron's of the Mars Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the charter advisory board of the Elsie Harjie Chapter of the Order of Rainbow Girls.

She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she never tired of talking about each of them with others.

She is survived by her four children, a son, Joseph M. Porter Jr. of Butler; three daughters, Jane (Charles) Neigh of Butler, Sally (Richard) Dickerson of Newton, N.C., and Nan (Peter) Durny of Zelienople; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, parents and 11 siblings, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David L. Emerick; and great- grandson, Christian Andrew Neigh.

PORTER — A memorial service for Viola Rose Fiel Porter, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, will be celebrated at the Calvin Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, with the Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s honor to the Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople PA 16063, to the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh, 5513 William Flynn Highway, Gibsonia, PA 15044, or to your local food bank or favorite charity of choice.Funeral services were entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
