Robert A. King, 64, of Butler died unexpectedly Sunday evening in an automobile accident.

Born in Butler on Jan. 9, 1948, he was a son of the late Frank R. and Suzanne Halurich King.

Bob was retired from the reserve department of Butler Armco and later A.K. Steel Corp. He retired in 2001 following 32 years of employment.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Vietnam, and he was a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

He was a skilled craftsman whose attention to detail was unmatched. A a hard worker, he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Bob loved traveling in search of antiques, tending to his garden and keeping a spotless truck.

He will be dearly missed by many whose lives he touched over the past 64 years, especially by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Lenyk King, who he married Nov. 22, 1969; and one daughter, Shelli Sommariva and her husband, Jay, of Butler. He was the proud grandpa to Reagan Izabella Sommariva. Also surviving are two brothers, Jim G. (Debbie) King and Frank D. (Karen) King; and one sister, Suzanne Swartout, all of Butler.

KING — There will not be a visitation for Robert A. King, who died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. Private services will be held for his family.Cremation services were provided by the Geibel Funeral Home, Butler.
