LEXINGTON, Ky. — Slippery Rock senior defensive specialist Hannah McShea was awarded All-Region honors in the Atlantic Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday, while fellow senior Sarah Cadwallader was an honorable mention.

McShea is one of 14 players to be named to the Atlantic Region team, racking up 537 digs and a team-high 52 aces for SRU this season.

Cadwallader, one of six honorable mention selections, led The Rock with 279 kills this year.

Trevor Gilliland tallied three goals and three assists, while Dylan Culbertson added two goals and Tyler Hrip one goal and two assists to lead the Butler freshman hockey team to an 8-2 victory over Hampton recently.Cameron Barto and Chris Martin also scored, while Jake Curry made 23 saves in net for the Tornado (4-1).

PITTSBURGH — Pitt coach Paul Chryst has dismissed redshirt freshman defensive back Stephen Williams from the team for disciplinary reasons two days after he was charged with assaulting a woman who said she was his girlfriend.Police say the woman flagged down officers Saturday about 2 a.m. The say she had marks on her chest and claimed her hair and an earring had been ripped out. Police say the 19-year-old Williams denied assaulting the woman or that she was his girlfriend but that he did acknowledge shoving her after she sought police help.

PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh junior swingman Trey Zeigler is facing DUI charges stemming from an incident over the weekend.Pittsburgh police charged Zeigler, whose legal name is Ernest Zeigler III, with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence on Sunday.

BEREA, Ohio — Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden is being treated for a concussion and it's not yet known if he'll play this week at Oakland.Weeden was injured in the closing minutes of Sunday's 20-14 win over Pittsburgh. He was replaced by backup Colt McCoy, who would play against the Raiders if Weeden is not cleared.

BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms with outfielder Jonny Gomes on a two-year contract that would reportedly pay him $10 million.

CINCINNATI — Reliever Jonathan Broxton is having “substantial talks” with the Cincinnati Reds about a multiyear deal, a person familiar with the negotiations said on Monday.Broxton also is talking to several other teams, looking for a good fit for the next few years, said the person speaking on condition of anonymity because no deal has been reached.
