KARNS CITY — The Karns City football team (10-3) will play WPIAL champion Aliquippa (13-0) in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Central Valley High School in Monaca.

PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Lake Erie College erased a 16-point deficit in the second half and dumped the visiting Slippery Rock University men's basketball team 80-73 in overtime Saturday afternoon.The Rock (2-1) led 37-25 at halftime and 41-25 two minutes into the second half.Lake Erie closed the game with a 12-6 run in the final five minutes to tie the score at 64-64 to force overtime.The Storm closed out the extra period on a 9-2 run to secure the victory.Darious Clark led The Rock with 20 points. Aubin Reeves added 17 and Sa'Quan Davis chipped 11 for SRU.Devin Taylor led all players with 13 rebounds for The Rock, who won't play again until Dec. 1 when they travel to Bloomsburg University for a 3 p.m. tip-off.

NEW YORK — Two years before the playoffs start in college football, the Southeastern Conference is staging a semifinal to determine who plays Notre Dame in the BCS title game.Alabama was second and Georgia third in the BCS standings released Sunday. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs play Saturday in Atlanta for the SEC championship.The winner will advance to the national championship game in Miami on Jan. 7 against the Fighting Irish, who locked up their spot Saturday with a 22-13 victory against Southern California.One way or another, the SEC will get a shot at its seventh straight BCS championship.The Bowl Championship Series is in its second-to-last season. It will be replaced by a four-team playoff in 2014.

NEW ORLEANS — Marques Colston has scored the 56th touchdown of his career and with New Orleans, surpassing Saints' all-time rusher Deuce McAllister for the club record.Colston, a seventh-round draft choice out of Hofstra in 2006, surpassed McAllister with 10-yard reception over the middle in the second quarter of New Orleans' game against San Francisco on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES — Maggie Lucas scored 23 points and Nikki Greene added 21 points and a career best-tying 20 rebounds and No. 6 Penn State overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to win the Cal State Northridge tournament with a 85-73 victory over the Matadors on Saturday.

PHILADELPHIA — Andrew Bynum is out indefinitely and there's no timetable set for his first game with the Philadelphia 76ers.The All-Star center was acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in a four-team trade before the season.
