Leroy Oran Deemer

Oran Leroy Deemer, 85, of Zelienople passed away on Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born May 31, 1927, in Cranberry Township, he was the son of the late Clyde C. and Mary E. (Householder) Deemer.

Oran was a member and a former trustee of the St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople for many years. He was a member of the Evans City Sportsmen’s Club where he was the hunter education instructor, who received honors for 50 years of service, and was a 4-H junior rifle instructor. He was the deputy game warden for more than 40 years and was a former member of the Breakneck Beagle Club.

Oran was one of the original employees of Baldinger’s Candy Store in Zelienople, and he retired from Johns Manville-BNZ after many years of dedicated service. In addition, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking and square dancing. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 65 years, Catherine (Zinkham) Deemer, who he married on Aug. 16, 1947; his three loving children, Kathie Brown and her husband, Rex, of Harmony, Lynn Bungar of New Castle and Kenneth L. Deemer and his wife, Becky, of Valencia; his sister, Lorraine Goehring of Cranberry Township; his brother, Clyde Rice and his wife, Gloria, of Butler; eight grandchildren, Heather Sparr and her husband, Robert, of Ohio, Mollie McCormick and her husband, Kevin, of West Chester, Mandi Meyer and her husband, Jason, of Butler, William Morrison III of New Castle, Tiffani Peak of New Castle, Heidi Marciante of Bessemer, Kenneth Deemer Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Freedom and Ryan Deemer and his wife, Alex, of Orlando, Fla.; and 19 precious great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Carl, Howard, Calvin and Clair Deemer; and his two sisters, Hazel Rice and Catherine Miller.

DEEMER — Oran Leroy Deemer passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012. The Deemer family will welcome friends on from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Peter's Reformed Church with Pastor James Bertoti officiating.
