Wanda M. Wawrzyniak Simms, 85, of Renfrew passed away Tuesday at VITAS hospice at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born May 27, 1927, in Bentleyville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jan and Mary (Kalista) Wawrzyniak.

Wanda was a member of the St. Fidelis Parish in Meridian for many years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. “Moo” Simms, who passed away Sept. 2, 1993, and who was the proud owner of the Butler County Memorial Park & Mausoleum. She became co-owner with her husband and had the pleasure of working alongside her son, Paul Simms.

She developed many friendships over the years throughout her social and professional life, but above all, she cherished the time spent with her much-loved family and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three loving sons, Mark A. Simms of Philadelphia, Bruce E. Simms of Evans City and Paul R. Simms and his wife, Mary, of Butler; seven adoring grandchildren, Rachel Simms, Gretchen Simms, Lauren Simms, Catherine Simms, Caroline Simms, Elizabeth Simms and Charles Simms; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Black and her two sisters, Dorothy Andrus and Loretta Kish.

SIMMS — Wanda M. Wawrzyniak Simms passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012. The Simms family will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Fidelis Parish, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with Father William Murphy as celebrant.Entombment will take place at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at the Butler County Memorial Park, 380 Evans City Road, Butler.In lieu of flowers, it was Wanda's desire that memorial contributions be made in her honor in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 960 Penn Ave., Suite 1000, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, Attn: Team Cardio for Caroline (Caroline Simms).Online condolences and directions are available at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
