Carol Ann Chestnut
Carol Ann Chestnut, 66, a resident of Liberty Township, Grove City, for the past 22 years, passed away suddenly at home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born in Dravosburg, Allegheny County, on Dec. 26, 1945, to the late Wilbert Bertram and Elizabeth Felix Hunter. Carol married Robert S. “Bob” Chestnut on Oct. 8, 1966.
Carol grew up in the Bellevue area of Pittsburgh, where she was a cheerleader in high school and graduated from Bellevue High School Class of 1963. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for ALCOA Corporation in downtown Pittsburgh.
She was a homemaker and loved raising her children. Carol formerly was employed by Wendell August Forge, Grove City, where she was a sales clerk and later worked in inventory for the business.
She was an active member of the North Liberty Presbyterian Church and she participated in the Circle Group of the church.
Carol enjoyed nature, she loved gardening and flowers, and identifying and feeding birds. For the past 20 years she was an avid bowler and played on leagues in the Grove City area.
Survivors include her husband, “Bob” at home; three children, Michael Hunter Chestnut and his fiancée, Shelley Neeley, of Grove City, Jennifer Leigh “Jenny” Carben and her husband, Jason, of Chicora and Matthew Hunter Chestnut of Grove City; one sister, Joan Gibbs of Zelienople; six grandchildren, Karli and Brady Chestnut, Noah, Catcher and Skyler Carben and Gavin Hunter Chestnut; niece and nephew; Johann Best and family of Zelienople and Jeffrey Gibbs and family of Ellwood City.
CHESTNUT — The funeral service for Carol Ann Chestnut, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. James P. Leuenberger, pastor of North Liberty Presbyterian Church, officiating.Visitation hours will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, Grove City, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.Burial will be in North Liberty Cemetery.Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Foundation Fighting Blindness, 7168 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite #100, Columbia, MD 21046, 1-800- 683-5555.
