Marcella E. 'Betty' Young Fallecker

Marcella E. “Betty” Young Fallecker, 89, of Butler died tragically Tuesday morning, as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born in Fairview Township, Butler County, on April 13, 1923, a daughter of William and Marcella Stein Young.

She was the widow of Cletus J. Fallecker. They married Nov. 29, 1941, and he died March 29, 2010.

A former member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers organization for 58 years, she also taught Sunday school there. In 2005, they moved to Butler and she became a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

A homemaker, Betty was a tour guide for A.P. Tours for 10 years and, prior to that, she worked at the J.C. Penney store in Butler. Formerly, she served on the Donegal Township Election Board for 30 years. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting the casinos and shopping.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Marlene and Bernard Steighner of Heathsville, Va., and Brenda and Lenny Vensel of Chicora; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Shurtliff and her husband, Robert, of Butler; six sisters, Mary Ferguson, Pauline Graham, Eleanor (John) Clouse, Cleora Tritch, Virginia (Bert) Koreith and Jane (Richard) Beltrami, all of Butler; three brothers, John (Rita) Young of Butler, Norman (Madeline) Young of Hilliards and Regis Young of Butler; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter, Richard Fallecker in 1978, Russell Fallecker in 1999 and Virginia Fallecker in 2008; a sister, Eileen Curtis; and five brothers, Charles, William, Paul, Richard and Robert Young.

FALLECKER — Friends of Marcella E. “Betty” Young Fallecker, who died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Interment will be at Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.St. Paul's Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the church.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
