Violet K. Ball, 82, of Butler passed away peacefully at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Concordia at Cabot Inpatient Hospice to be with our Lord.

Violet was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Lyndora, the cherished and beloved daughter of the late Ignatz Szkult and the late Catherine (Czzowitz) Szkult.

Violet was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She was foremost a dutiful wife of 63 years and a mother of six children. She also contributed to her family, performing the duties of a waitress at Vinmar’s Diner and Pizza Hut. She enjoyed the interactions between herself and her regular patrons and coworkers.

Violet was a wife, mother of six, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of nine, great-great-grandmother of three and had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fourth great-great-granddaughter, Isabella. K. Guidotti.

Surviving are her husband, Earnest R. Ball Sr., who she married July 16, 1949; two daughters, Kathleen “Kathye” (Richard “Dick”) Parkin of Ebensburg and Tammy (Gerarldo) Gutierrez of Butler; two sons, Earnest “Bobby” Ball Jr. of Butler and Richard “Rick” Ball and his companion, Dawn, of Butler; and three sisters, Dorothy Gabriel of New Castle, Helen Skegas of California and Estella Opferman of Florida.

She was preceded in death and is now reunited with her son and daughter, Thomas “Chuckie” Ball and Brenda Velasquez; and her brother, Ignatz Szkult.

BALL — Friends of Violet K. Ball, who died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, will be received and graciously welcomed at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler to celebrate Violet’s life from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and noon until the time of the blessing service at 1 p.m. Monday. Private interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.
