Steve Chuba

Steven R. Chuba, 67, of Butler died Sunday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 17, 1945, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Thomas and Anna (Stelbosky) Chuba.

He worked for the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler until the plant closed, and then he worked for the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Steve served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 117 in Butler. In his younger years, he was an active athlete.

Surviving are his daughter, Adria R. Chuba and her fiancé, William Olexsak of Hudson, Ohio; one son, Ryan J. Chuba of Somerset; and two sisters, Lillian (Joseph) Matula of Kingwood, Texas, and Joan (Ronald) Morgan of Valencia. Also surviving are four stepchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Chuba; four sisters; and three brothers.

CHUBA — There will not be a visitation for Steven R. Chuba, who died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012.A memorial service with military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mausoleum Chapel of Calvary Cemetery, Butler. The Rev. Thomas Gillespie will officiate. Cremation services are provided by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
