Richard C. Allen, 60, of Oakdale, formerly of Zelienople, passed away Monday morning at his home.

Born in Ellwood City, Oct. 20, 1951, he was the son of Clark R. Allen of Zelienople and the late Lois Jean Mohr Allen.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. Allen graduated from Grove City College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. He worked as a chemist for Bayer Material Science, Pittsburgh, until his illness three weeks ago.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Merdzinski Allen, who he married on April 7, 1980; one daughter, Beth of Oakdale; two sons, Derek of Zelienople and Ryan of Phoenix, Ariz.; his father, Clark of Zelienople; and one brother, Randy (Pam) Allen of Albuquerque, N.M.

ALLEN — Friends and relatives of Richard C. Allen, who passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, are invited to a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N.
