Ruth Wallace

Mrs. Ruth LaVonne Wallace, 74, of Durham, N.C., formerly of Butler, died Wednesday at the Carolina House of Durham.

Mrs. Wallace was born in Butler, and was the daughter of the late John E. Chuhra and the late Ruth Smith Chuhra.

Prior to retiring as chief nurse, she was employed by the Durham VA Medical Center for 33 years. Mrs. Wallace was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Durham and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW in Butler.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by her husband, Vance “Gus” W. Wallace; a brother, John Edward Chuhra Jr. of Butler; and a sister, Sally Ann Chase of Ohio.
