Program benefits seniors

The Butler County Area Agency on Aging will help senior citizens evaluate Medicare health and prescription plans.

The annual enrollment period for these plans begins Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7 with changes becoming effective Jan. 1.

The APPRISE program offered through Agency on Aging can help people evaluate the plans. Renee Hewitt, APPRISE coordinator, will hold meetings in the senior centers:

Bruin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church

Chicora at 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Moose Lodge

Cranberry Township at 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at the township municipal building

Mars at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Penn Mar Plaza Recreation Room

West Sunbury at 11 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church, East Church Road, West Sunbury

Slippery Rock at 11 a.m. Oct. 12 at the municipal building

Winfield Township at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 at the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department Fire Hall, Brose Road

Zelienople at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Luther Court, Passavant Campus

To stay for lunch, call the center to make a reservation.

The content of these free meetings will be general. One-on-one discussions with a counselor may be arranged in the agency office by calling 724-282-3008.
