Carol J. Vasbinder Keck
Carol J. Vasbinder Keck, 89, of Butler passed away at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at Newhaven Court at Clearview in Butler.
She was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Butler to the late Victor O. McCoy and Frances (Sherman) McCoy.
Mrs. Vasbinder Keck was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. She worked as a title abstractor and retired in 1983. Mrs. Vasbinder Keck was well known at the Butler County Courthouse. Carol was a true matriarch of her family and a lover of people and life. She enjoyed music, dancing, animals, traveling, bridge, the Civil War, the Steelers, the Pirates and a good joke.
Mrs. Vasbinder Keck is survived by two sons, Larry Vasbinder and his wife, Carlen, and Roger Vasbinder and his wife, Patti, all of Butler; two daughters, Carol Lynn Weger and her husband, Scott, of Ravenna, Ohio, and Kathie Rankin and her husband, Tom, of San Diego; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces; two nephews; two stepsons, Robert I. Keck Jr. and John B. Keck; two stepdaughters, Susan Montgomery and Christine McCurdy; a number of step-grandchildren; and a number of step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, Gerald C. Vasbinder, who she married Sept. 16, 1941, and who passed away Nov. 7, 1978, and her second husband, Robert I. (Bob) Keck Sr., who she married June 11, 1983, and who passed away Dec. 4, 2010; one brother, Victor McCoy; and one niece.
KECK — Friends of Carol J. Vasbinder Keck, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler, with the Rev. James Dollhopf of the First English Lutheran Church officiating.A private burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N.
