Raymond W. 'Sonny' Dittmer

Raymond W. “Sonny” Dittmer, 71, of Reed Road, Fenelton, Clearfield Township, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 10:50 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Raymond was born in Herman, Sept. 18, 1940. He was the son of Raymond W. and Erba Schontz Dittmer.

He was Catholic and attended the St. Mary Catholic School in Herman and Butler High School.

He enjoyed camping, hunting and the company of his grandchildren.

He was employed by Pullman Standard and was a school bus driver for Valley Bus Line. He and his wife, Linda, had owned and operated the Point Bar in Chicora.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Butler American Legion Post 117, the VFW and the Eagle's Club in Kane.

He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Lybrand Dittmer. The couple was married in Columbia, S.C., and would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary on Sept. 5.

Also surviving are a daughter, Judy Dittmer of West Sunbury; two sons, Robby Dittmer of Fenelton and Larry A. Dittmer of Butler; four grandchildren, Donny Dittmer of Chicora, Diana Dittmer and Bricker Dittmer of Fenelton and Airman 1st Class Patrick Sherman of Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.; two brothers, Ted Dittmer and his wife, Phyllis, of Butler and Tim Dittmer of Herman; five sisters, Rose Mary Ashe and her husband, Richard, of Fenelton, Sally Holsinger of Butler, Nancy Catterall of Herman, Betty Lou Henry and her husband, James, of Herman and Sue LeMasters of Herman; an aunt; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.

DITTMER — Raymond W. “Sonny” Dittmer died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 668 Clearfield Road, Fenelton.
