CENTER TWP — Future POS, the developer of restaurant and hospitality computer software, recently released two new mobile apps for restaurants.

Future POS Mobile Ordering and Future POS Remote Control are available to download for Android and coming soon for Apple iOS.

With Future POS Mobile Ordering, restaurant owners can offer customers the option of placing orders directly from a smartphone. The app can remember previously ordered items.

Future POS Remote Control is an application that allows mobile restaurant management on-the-go access to store data and features five scrollable screens for reports and data.

Future POS Remote Control also allows owners and operators to link one phone to multiple stores and update menu prices.

John Giles, president and CEO the company, said, “The smartphone and other smart devices are changing the way store owners and consumers interact with the point-of-sale system, and these apps are just the beginning of what will be a comprehensive suite of apps that will improve operational productivity.”

Columbia Gas to replace pipelineCANONSBURG, Washington County — Columbia Gas will start in October a $1.6 million pipeline improvement project north of Emlenton, Venango County.The project will replace 1,500 feet of steel pipeline just north of the Interstate 80 bridge over the Allegheny River.The gas company plans to bore under the river to replace the pipe, and construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with intermittent flagging on Route 268 when equipment is being moved.The project is expected to be done by mid-November.For information, go to Columbia’s website at www.ColumbiaGasPa.com and click on “Infrastructure Upgrade.”

Car dealership land changes ownershipPENN TWP — The property where Kelly Automotive at 252 Pittsburgh Road is located has been sold to Claddagh Properties, a limited partnership.Branden Kelly, son of U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd, said that sale of the land is part of a restructuring of hard assets for the Kelly family’s estate planning.The sales agreement is listed as George J. Kelly Jr., otherwise known as Mike Kelly, to Claddagh Properties LP, for $2.3 million.Branden Kelly said the dealership and all the licenses with the car manufacturers the dealership represents remain the same.

New home decor business to openCONNOQUENESSING TWP — Real Deals on Home Decor will have its grand opening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at the new building at 891 Evans City Road, next to the Butler Farm Market.The store will be open two days per week, Thursdays and Saturdays, offering Real Deals on Home Decor, a franchise furniture and decoration line.Owners Brenda Shockey and Kristin McGinnis will be on hand to help shoppers with purchases and refreshments.
