Blanche Grimm

Blanche Leona Grimm, 89, of Fairmont Avenue, New Castle, passed away Saturday morning at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Middle Lancaster, Butler County, to the late William Baker and Nora Mable (Moyer) Baker.

She was a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, where her grandson, Michael J. Nail, is the pastor. She worked as a waitress and later as a private duty nurse's aide. Blanche had a life-long compassion for donating to numerous charities and supporting her church.

She lived at Highland Terrace for the past nine years and had many wonderful neighbors and friends there. Her love, kindness and compassion for all who knew her endeared her to everyone.

She was an avid botanist who had many varieties of plants and flowers that thrived year round. Her baking skills were enjoyed by family and friends throughout her life.

Many heartfelt thanks go out to Jameson Hospice for their wonderful efforts to make Mrs. Grimm as comfortable as possible during her last weeks of life.

Blanche was married three times and was preceded in death by all three spouses, Theodore Reisker of Pittsburgh, Harold Rodewalt of New Wilmington and Ronald Grimm of New Castle.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Cindy S. (Rodewalt) Brown and her husband, Dale, of New Castle; one son, Daniel R. Rodewalt and his wife, Tina, of New Castle; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Sandra L. Nail; three sons, Robert D. Reisker, James R. Reisker and Samuel H. Rodewalt; one grandson, Robert D. Stefko; and six siblings, Mrs. Helen Kline, Howard Gerwig, Donald Baker, Mrs. Viola Dearing, Clifford Baker and Robert Baker.

GRIMM — Visitation for Blanche Leona Grimm, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A service will be conducted by her grandson, Pastor Michael J. Nail, at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.The obituary may be viewed and online condolences offered at www.decarbofuneralhome.com.
