Loralei Rose Merkel, newborn infant daughter of James A. and Heather M. (Shearman) Merkel of Johnstown, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Magee Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Betty Shearman, Carl Furlong, Kenneth Petrie and Dorothy Merkel.

She is survived by her parents; grandparents, Jeffrey and Bonnie Shearman of Johnstown and Jim and Jacque Merkel of Mars; and great-grandparents, Justus Merkel of Monaca, Gladys Petrie of Mars, Jay Shearman of Johnstown and Virginia Furlong of Johnstown.

Although she was with us for the briefest time, she will be sadly missed by all her family, especially her aunts and uncles, Bradley and Kayla Shearman of Johnstown, Justin Shearman of Johnstown, Jennifer and Michael Williams of Conway, Jon and Audrey Merkel of Beaver Falls, and Jeremy Merkel, Jesse Merkel and Jordan Merkel, all of Mars; and cousins, Landon and Jordyn Shearman of Johnstown.
