Dale E. Hockenberry, 61, of East Butler passed away Wednesday.

He was born Oct. 28, 1950 in Butler, the son of the late Clarence Hockenberry and the late Marie (Bartlett) Hockenberry.

Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Butler High School in 1968 and Slippery Rock College in 1975.

He was a retired wildlife conservation officer from 1982 to 1996 and a land management officer from 1996 to 2010. He was a member of the Tri County Pistol League and the Butler Valley Sportscar Club. He enjoyed golfing, boating, biking, traveling and watching the Steelers.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy A. (Schar) Hockenberry, who he married Jan. 17, 1970; a daughter, Mindi (Ishmael) Ribar of Hudson, N.Y.; a son, Christopher (Catina) Hockenberry of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Madison and Cameron Hockenberry; and a sister, Jeanne Cherry of East Butler.

HOCKENBERRY — The funeral service and burial for Dale E. Hockenberry, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, are private.

Memorial donations may be made to CORE, 204 Sigma Drive, RIDC Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15238, for the training of cadaver dogs.

Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home, Butler.
