Eileen Slater

Eileen M. Slater, 83, formerly of Woodcrest Road, Butler, died Monday evening at the Chicora Medical Center.

She was born in East Butler on May 14, 1929, a daughter of Sylvester H. and Mathilda Holly Geibel.

A homemaker, Eileen was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland and the Christian Mothers of St. Joseph's.

She worked at Hopie's Camera Shop in Butler for several years.

She was the widow of Raymond F. Slater. They were married on Aug. 7, 1948, and he died April 25, 2009. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Adrian and Bernard Geibel.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Bruce E. and Gloria Slater of Butler; Gary L. and Margie Slater of Chicora and Paul D. and Jane Slater of Butler; nine grandchildren, Chad and Shawn Slater, Greg, Ray, Mike and Beth Slater and Joshua, Philip and Jamie Slater; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sylvester H. Geibel Jr. of Chicora and Leon (Josephine) Geibel of Hagerstown, Md.; and one sister-in-law, Anne Geibel of Evansville, Ind.

SLATER — Friends of Eileen M. Slater, 83, who died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland.
