Wilbur L. Christie

Wilbur L. Christie, 88, of East Butler, formerly of Boydstown, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Oakland Township, the son of the late Lewis Andrew Christie and the late Loretta (Badger) Christie.

Wilbur was a member of the Grace at Calvary Lutheran Church.

He retired from Armco, now AK Steel, from the stores receiving and purchasing department after 39 years.

Wilbur was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs and the East Butler Fire Department. Wilbur was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.

Surviving are his sister, Mildred M. Weaver of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy Schmidt and Glenda Lang, and his two brothers, Paul Christie and Dean Christie.

CHRISTIE — Friends of Wilbur L. Christie, who died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. Thursday with his pastor, the Rev. Don Short, officiating. The VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 778 will give military honors at 7:45 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery.For more information, go to www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
