Bob King

Robert H. “Bob” King, 87, of Sarver, formerly of East Brady, died Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 15, 1924, in Phillipston, Pa., he was the son of Albert C. and Fonda Mae (Smith) King.

On Jan. 10, 1948, he married Genevieve L. “Winnie” (Rossman) King and she survives.

A U.S. Army veteran, Bob was a technician fifth grade with the 974th Engineer Maintenance Company. He was part of the campaign at Luzon and was a recipient of the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Eame Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member of Rimersburg VFW Post 7132 and American Legion Post 488, Bradys Bend.

Bob was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for two years and Michigan Limestone in Bradys Bend for two years. He owned and operated the Gulf Station in East Brady for 10 years, and he worked for Damon-Heppenstal Industries in Bradys Bend for 30 years.

Bob was a member of United Methodist Church in East Brady.

He and Winnie enjoyed camping at Wolfs Camping Resort in Knox, where he was a greenskeeper at the golf course. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and 500. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Genevieve L. “Winnie” King of Sarver; one daughter, Darlene King Steiner of Freeport; five sons, Richard A. King and his wife, Jeanne, of Grafton, Va., Ronald L. King and his wife, Christine, of New Kensington, Robert L. King and his wife, Deb, of East Brady, David W. King and his wife, Lynn, of Stanley, N.C., and Duane S. King and his wife, Berniece, of Baxley, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy R. Mortimer and her husband, Laird, of East Brady; and three brothers, Carl Dean King and his wife, Shirley, of East Brady, Donald L. King and his wife, Peg, of Bradys Bend and Richard K. King and his wife, Ressie, of Lyndhurst, Va.

He also is survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Ralph King.

KING — Funeral services for Robert H. “Bob” King, who died Thursday, July 26, 2012, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at East Brady United Methodist Church with the Rev.
