Part of Pa. town evacuated after truck overturns

KANE, McKean County — Emergency officials are evacuating part of a northwestern Pennsylvania community after a tanker carrying butane overturned at an intersection at the center of town.

Emergency dispatchers say the truck overturned around 4:30 a.m. today in Kane and hundreds of residents are likely affected. No injuries have been reported.

State police say the tanker isn’t leaking. Butane is highly flammable and commonly used as lighter fuel.

The precautionary evacuation affects an area up to a half-mile from the accident scene. The Kane Area School District canceled classes for the day because of the crash.

Kane is a town of about 5,400 residents.
