Dr. Lester A. Dunmire
Dr. Lester A. Dunmire, 86, of Butler passed away at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Duquesne, Allegheny County, and was the son of the late Glenn D. and Bessie Botkin Dunmire.
He was a member of the Sixth Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. He also belonged to the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Butler, where he volunteered weekly at the food pantry.
Dr. Dunmire was a U.S. Army veteran. He served from 1951 to 1953 in Germany.
Dr. Dunmire retired after 40 years as a surgeon at West Penn Hospital. He was well known for his medical expertise.
He is survived by his loving wife, Enid M. (Mitchell) Dunmire, who he married Sept. 17, 1949; his children, Lester A. Dunmire Jr. of Butler, Dr. Susan M. Dunmire and her husband, Dr. Samuel A. Tisherman, of Allison Park; three grandchildren, Robert Tisherman of Pittsburgh, Sara Tisherman and Rebecca Tisherman, both of Allison Park; one brother, Glenn D. (Lojie) Dunmire Jr. of Providence R.I.; and his cousin, Audrey Roth of Pittsburgh.
