Nathan A. Johnson, 36, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Valencia, was born Oct. 16, 1975, in Butler and died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Thursday, July 5, 2012, in his home in San Jose.

Nathan attended Mars High School, the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army.

He discovered the field of computer sciences and through talent and exceptional intellect found his way to Silicon Valley in California, where he was currently employed at Evernote in Redwood City as a data warehousing and analytics manager.

He leaves behind his loving mother, Judy (Molinaro) Kurtzrock and his step-father, Roy; the faithful mother of his children and forever friend, Michele Johnson; sons, Christian, 8, and Benjamin, 6; brothers, Cory in Nebraska, Aaron in Plum Borough and Bill and his wife, Haley, both serving in the U.S. Air Force in Nevada; maternal grandparents, Tony and Mabel Molinaro in Valencia; uncle, Ron Molinaro and his wife, Claire, in Valencia; and aunt, Kathy Knox and her husband, Jim, in North Carolina. He has numerous cousins and leaves behind many good friends and co-workers in California, as well as his closest friend, Margaret Kenney.

Nathan enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad, in addition to the many locations his work took him.

Also, he enjoyed camping and hiking, but mostly the time he spent with his sons in Pennsylvania.

JOHNSON — The family of Nathan A. Johnson, who died Thursday, July 5, 2012, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Schellhaas Funeral Home, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The interment will follow in Mars Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations for the benefit of Nathan's children would be appreciated greatly. Please mail checks, payable to R.C.
