BUFFALO TWP — Heavy rains Friday afternoon forced the cancellation of the evening Fab Four racing show at Lernerville Speedway.

The rainout leaves only two points racing nights remaining on the schedule and clinched the 2012 Late Model points title for Jared Miley. Fab Four racing resumes next Friday.

Kevin Schaeffer has 392 points and a 19-point lead over Rod George in Sprints. Miley has an 83-point lead over John Garvin Jr. in Late Models.

Brian Swartzlander has a 12-point lead over Dave Murdick in Modifieds and Corey McPherson owns a 17-point advantage over Jim Fosnaught in Sportsman Stocks.

FOX CHAPEL — Lindsey Miller of Cranberry Township had a strong showing at the 15th annual Fox Chapel United States Tennis Association Junior Open Friday at the Fox Chapel Racquet Club, as well as Fox Chapel High School, Pittsburgh Field Club and Longue Vue Club in Penn Hills.In the girls 14 doubles, Miller teamed with Michelle Uyeda of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, to defeat Ava Catanzarite of Franklin Park and Eugenia Lee of Allison Park, 6-2, 6-1.Miller fell to Sara Tsukamoto of Kailua Kona 6-2, 6-3 in the girls 16 singles finals.Also, Derek Chen of Cranberry Township defeated Siddhanth Iyer of Gibsonia 10-8 in the boys 16 singles consolations.

CHICAGO — The White Sox placed first baseman Paul Konerko on the seven-day concussion disabled list.The 36-year-old Konerko has been feeling concussion symptoms since Tuesday when he was elbowed in the head by Kansas City's Jarrod Dyson during a close play at first.

BALTIMORE — Manny Machado has homered twice in his second big league game with the Baltimore Orioles.Machado, the third overall pick in the 2010 draft, hit a solo shot in the fifth inning and a three-run shot in the sixth.

CINCINNATI — Left guard Travelle Wharton hurt his right knee during Cincinnati's opening series and left the field on a cart, the start of a series of injuries to Bengals starters, including middle linebacker Rey Maualuga and defensive end Carlos Dunlap.

DETROIT — Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi left a preseason game against the Detroit Lions with a head injury.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville wide receiver Michaelee Harris will miss the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.Harris had been expected to be one of Louisville’s starting receivers.
