Robber sentenced to prison for crime

A Butler man who used a baseball bat to strong arm a convenience store clerk will spend 9 to 18 months behind bars.

Anthony J. Donachy, 29, of Charlemagne Drive pleaded guilty to theft and aggravated assault. He was sentenced today by Butler County Judge Timothy McCune.

According to court records, Donachy on Feb. 17 made multiple visits to the 7-11 store on Hansen Avenue for small purchases. On his fourth visit about 5 a.m., Donachy told a cashier to “open the cash register,” according to court records.

Court records indicate Donachy produced a wooden baseball bat with black tape around the handle when the clerk questioned him. He fled on foot with $65 in cash, but the incident was reportedly captured by store security cameras.

In addition to the prison time, Donachy was ordered to serve three years probation, pay $200 in fines and log 50 hours of community service.
