VerLee L. Litzenberg Merritts

VerLee L. Litzenberg Merritts, 79, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Butler, passed away June 27 at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose following complications from surgery.

She was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Hooker. She was the daughter of the late Merle K. “Chick” Litzenberg and the late Grace L. Burkett Litzenberg.

She was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Butler. She had been employed for many years as the parts manager at San Jose Harley Davidson. She also was employed at Mirassau Winery.

She is survived by two daughters, Dina Gatto Merritts and Renee Merritts, both of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Keith Litzenberg of Hooker; five nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Stiehler, and one niece.

MERRITTS — A memorial service for VerLee L. Litzenberg Merritts, who passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Concord Presbyterian Church, Hooker, with the Rev. Kevin Channel officiating. A private burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.
