Jean M. Schnur
Jean M. Schnur, 86, of Herman passed away Tuesday at her home.
She was born in Butler on Dec. 5, 1925, and was the daughter of the late James M. and Bernice Williams Mentzer.
Jean was formerly employed as a planter at Schnur’s Greenhouse and as a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks.
She was a member of the Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Schnur Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Armstrong, Ill., and Ernie Schnur and his dear friend, Cathy, of Herman; one daughter, Linda Kriley and her fiancé, Rich Kyle, of State College; three brothers, John “Bus” Mentzer of Virginia, Thomas Mentzer of Newville, Pa., and Donald Mentzer of Butler; one sister, Dorothy McCullough of Butler; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Schnur Sr., who passed away Aug. 28, 2007; two sisters, Mildred “Toot” Crawford and Elizabeth “Betty” McCool; and two brothers, James “Junior” Mentzer and William Mentzer.

Schnur, who died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, will be received at the Martin Funeral Home, Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Ward Stakem, O.F.M. Cap, pastor, officiating. The burial will follow in the Saint Mary Cemetery.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
