Goodwill runners pass through county
If you saw a group of women running through Butler County late this morning, they likely were from the World Harmony Run.
The path the four runners were taking was Route 8 to Butler and Route 68 through Chicora.
The group stopped in Pittsburgh on Tuesday to visit schools. Its next stop will be Buffalo, N.Y., on Friday.
The run was founded by peace activist Sri Chinmoy in 1987. Its goal is to “encourage goodwill, harmony and friendship at the local level.”
Runs will be taking place in about 100 countries.
The United States portion of the run is 10,000 miles. It started April 15 in New York City and is expected to end Aug. 15 back in New York City.
