Cranberry advances in Eagle playoffs
Greg Miller’s two-run homer in the first inning helped Cranberry Township to a 4-3 Game 2 victory over Zelienople Tuesday to capture the best-of-three first-round series in Eagle County baseball playoff action.
Miller also added a single and scored two runs and Chris Larry added a pair of hits.
Brian Gasser tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts, one walk and six hits.
In other action:
John Crummy had a single, double and two RBIs and Phil Double added two hits, including a triple, as Mars II evened its best-of-three playoff series against Freeport with an 11-5 win.
Anthony Sklarsky and Matt Rovnan had a single and double apiece, while Jim Roach and Ryan Leonberg added two hits each.
Josh Rape picked up the win, striking out four batters and four runs in five innings of work while Weston Hillegas closed out the game with three strikeouts over the final two innings.
Game 3 will be played at 6 p.m. today at Callery.
