Sliders' bats arise to clip Lorain, 12-9

LORAIN, Ohio — The Slippery Rock Sliders took a 9-0 lead through four innings Friday night and escaped a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the ninth to hold on for a 12-9 victory over the Lorain County Ironmen.

Dan Hurlimann went 3-for-3 with two homers, four runs scored and four RBI and Grove City grad Jeff Revesz blasted a three-run homer for the Sliders (5-10) in the win.

Zack Walsh took the mound for Slippery Rock in the top of the ninth with runners at first and second with a 12-9 edge. He walked Scott White to load the bases, but struck out the next two batters and induced a fly to center field to end the game.

Josh Tinnon earned the win on the mound for the Sliders. He struck out eight, scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs in seven innings of work.

The Ironmen (4-11) scored six runs in the top of the eighth to get back into the game. However, Slippery Rock had plenty of offense to offset the rally as every starter had at least one base knock, including multi-hit games from Hurlimann, Derek Peake, Pat Gelwicks, Radley Haddad and Trent Woolridge.
