SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Sliders’ rally fell short in a 4-3 loss to Lorain County in Prospect League baseball action at Critchfield Park Thursday night.

Zach Looney had two hits for Slippery Rock.

Max Deering pitched well, but picked up the loss for the Sliders. Deering gave up four runs — only two earned — and struck out seven in seven strong innings.

Slippery Rock (4-10) scored two of its three runs in the ninth on passed balls.
