Peter A. Bartoli
Peter A. Bartoli, 88, of Butler passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler, Sept. 11, 1923, he was the son of the late Orlando and Argena Pelligrini Bartoli.
Peter Bartoli, along with his brothers, Vasco and Raymond Bartoli, started Bartoli’s Cleaners more than 50 years ago, and Peter and his wife continued the business until 1984.
He led his own orchestra, “The Pete Bartoli Music Makers,” which played for dances, weddings and social events in Butler and the surrounding area. He also served as a drum instructor for the C.D. of A. Drum and Bugle Corps and for the Lyndora Drum and Bugle Corps.
He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
A member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, he was a past president of the 55 and Alive of St. Michael’s. He was also a greeter at St. Michael’s, as well as a member of the parish’s Bereavement Group.
He was a life member and past president of the musicians’ union here in Butler, a life member of the Elks Lodge of Butler, a life member of the United Commercial Travelers and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He also was actively involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline DeFoggi Bartoli, to whom he was married for 59 years; one daughter, Sally Thompson and her husband, Kirk, of Bethel Park; three grandchildren, Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon P. Thompson, U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif., Chad A. Thompson of Pittsburgh, and Kelsey A. Thompson of Weehawken, N.J.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vasco Bartoli and Raymond Bartoli.
BARTOLI — Friends of Peter A. Bartoli, who passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. The burial will be in the St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The Bereavement Group of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a scriptural wake service.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 146 N. Monroe St., Butler, PA 16001.
